SUN PEAKS WINTER ACTIVITIES

 

Skiing & Snowboarding:

Some of the best powder in B.C.! Uncrowded slopes and few line-ups! Almost 3000ft of vertical in the second largest ski area in B.C. and the third-largest in Canada! Plus a terrain park featuring boarder cross and a halfpipe with grinder!

Snowblades:

Rentals available at Sun Peaks equipment stores.

Spin Cycle:

Sling-shot trampoline located at the base of Sundance Mountain. Daily, 1pm to 8pm. Family friendly.

Sundance Playschool:

Child-minding for children aged 18 months to 5 years. Daily, 8.45am to 4pm.

Snowmobile Tours:

Tours for novice and intermediate riders. High performance machines available to experienced drivers only. Helmet, boots, and jackets included. Customized tours available upon request.

Dog Sledding Tours:

A fantastic one-hour experience, including orientation and tour. Children 5 and under ride free with an adult. Minimum age to mush own team is 14 years. Saturday & Sunday only, 10am, noon and 2pm.

International Fondue Dinner & Torchlight Descent:

A wonderful alpine dining experience for adults of intermediate or better ability.

Cat Trax:

Experience snow grooming first-hand. Daily, 45 minutes tours between 5pm and 8pm.

Mountain Sunrise Breakfast & First Trax:

Meet at the Sunburst Chairlift at 7.30am. Package includes hot breakfast buffet and first tracks on the slopes! Adults only, intermediate or better ability level. Sunday and Wednesday.

Outdoor Ice Skating:

Located across the street, east of the sports centre. Family friendly. 11am to 3.30pm, 4.30pm to 9pm.

Race Packages:

Various options available for both skiers and boarders - for details and registration contact the Snow Sports School.

Cross Country Skiing:

The only lift-accessed cross country trails in North America! Over 50km of trails await nordic enthusiasts of all ability levels! About 12km of skating trails, 16km of classic, and 40km of wilderness trails that are not track-set.

Telemark Skiing:

Rentals available at Sun Peaks equipment stores.

Tubing Park:

Access via carpet lift - the elbow-shaped trail at the top of the Sundance Platter. No hard boots. No multiple riders or rafting, except parent with underage or under-height child. Daily, 2pm to 7pm. Family friendly.

Kids Adventure Park:

Mini-snowmobiles and toboganning for children at the sports centre. Thursday to Sunday, 4pm to 9pm.

Sports Centre:

The sports centre offers change-rooms, an outdoor heated pool with indoor entry, kiddies' pool, and a hot tub. Adjacent to the centre are outdoor tennis courts which, in winter, are converted to a children's snowmobile area. In addition, in winter, there's a large outdoor ice-rink nearby. The sports centre is located a few steps from the village core - just follow the road up the hill between the Nancy Green's Cahilty Lodge and the Fireside Lodge. Daily, noon to 9pm. Family friendly, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible guardian.

Cat Skiing Tours:

Catch the first chair to the top and meet up with the snow cat. An all-day back-country adventure that includes lunch.

Snowshoeing:

Daytime and moonlight tours. Rental equipment available. Tours must be booked more than 3 hours ahead.

Sleigh Rides:

Various tours, Tuesday through Sunday. Children under 4 ride free on adult's lap. Warm blankets provided. Payment will be processed at the time of reservation.

Snowshoe Fondue Tour:

A little fresh air and exercise, and lots of food and fun! All ages, all ability levels welcome. Fridays only.

Cat Skiing:

Daily and multi-day package available for intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders. Licensed guides lead groups of 12. Includes return transport from Sun Peaks, unlimited vertical, safety equipment, on-mountain lunch.

Golf:

The Sun Peaks Golf Course, designed by Graham Cooke, was completed and opened for play in 2005. Abounding with risk/reward, this course is naturally spectacular - and the 4000ft elevation doesn't hurt your ball flight, either! More ...
Bungee Trampoline:
One of the most popular kids' activities in Sun Peaks! Tickets available from the Village Day Lodge.
Fishing:
Local legend Carlos Tallent takes you fly fishing at the Adams River, just 30 minutes from Sun Peaks. Rates include transport and equipment.
Kayaking:
Our easy to use inflatable, two-person kayaks are safe and stable enough for anyone to use. Rent or take a tour.
Photo Shoots & Clinics:
Experienced photographers capture your Sun Peaks experience on film! Portrait and action pictures! Photo clinics are available for the enthusiast!
Mountain Biking:
All sorts of gravity-fed fun for novices, intermediates and experts! Bring your own gear, or rent some! Do your own thing or take a tour! Improve your style with a clinic!
ATV Tours:
Ideal for novices, these two- and four-hour tours take you to the alpine meadows and forests with a picnic lunch at McGillivray Lake! Lunch, beverages and all equipment included. u19's go as passengers. Advance booking essential.
Canoe Rentals:
Fully equipped canoes available 15 minutes from the village on McGillivray Lake. All day or half day. Experience necessary.
Hiking Tours:
Experienced guides lead you to Sun Peaks alpine meadows and forests, and introduce you to the local flora and fauna. Tours to suit every fitness level.
Massage Therapy & Spa:
Treat yourself at one of two locations! Essential Spa at the Pinnacle Lodge, or Sun Peaks Spa in the main village.
Trail Rides:
No horseriding experience necessary! Two hour, half-day and overnight trail rides are available. Minimum age 10 years.
Voyageur Canoe Tours:
A non-strenuous trip back in time, to see what Canada's early explorers saw, and how they traded to survive, when they arrived two hundred years ago! You may even spot osprey, bald eagles, loons, beaver, trout, moose, bear and even cougar from your canoe!
